Frequently Asked Questions
Are these medications proven weight loss treatments?
Yes. Both Ozempic and Wegovy are semaglutides. All are clinically tested in multiple years-long studies and approved by the FDA.
How do GLP-1 treatments work?
Semaglutides activate GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, enhancing the release of insulin and reducing the release of glucagon. The combination of these actions leads to glucose homeostasis, which triggers the burning of fat storage for energy.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
In a 68-week medical study of 1,961 adults living with obesity or excess weight with a related medical problem lost on average 35 lbs or 15% body weight while taking Wegovy.
What if I miss a dose?
Wegovy is a once-weekly injectable drug, so it’s important to make sure your appointments are scheduled well in advance to avoid missing any doses. However, unexpected things happen, so here’s what to do if you miss a dose of Wegovy.
- If you miss one dose of Wegovy and your next dose is more than 48 hours away, schedule your missed dose as soon as you can.
- If you miss one dose of Wegovy and your next dose is less than 48 hours away, skip your missed dose. Then, take your next dose according to your usual schedule.
- If you miss two or more doses of Wegovy in a row, talk with your provider. They may need to temporarily adjust your dosage.
If you aren’t sure whether to take a missed dose of Wegovy or to skip it, talk with your provider or pharmacist.
Why do I need to have lab testing conducted?
Lab testing is part of the initial screening by your medical provider to ensure you are medically eligible for weight loss treatment.
How do I take Ozempic or Wegovy?
Wegovy and Ozempic are injections administered in thighs, abdomen, or upper arm. Please view these videos for further instructions.
Will I need to use this drug long term?
Wegovy may be used as a long-term treatment to help people lose and maintain a healthy weight. If you and your provider determine that Wegovy is safe and effective for you, you may use it long term.

Is there a Wegovy Shortage? Am I guaranteed to get Wegovy?
Yes, unfortunately there is currently a shortage of Wegovy which will likely persist until at least early Fall 2022. By joining our program, if eligible, you are guaranteed to receive a GLP-1a prescription of Wegovy or a drug like Wegovy that is in stock. If our pharmacy has Wegovy in stock, your provider will be able to prescribe it. If it does not, your provider will offer you Ozempic, a GLP-1 drug which has shown similar weight loss properties as Wegovy and are manufactured by the same pharmaceutical company. No company today can guarantee that you will be able to receive Wegovy as the supply issues affect everyone equally.
