What Is the Lyme Disease test?

What Is the Lyme Disease test?

Lyme disease is spread through tick bites and often causes fatigue, headaches, or joint pain—symptoms that can mimic other conditions. Since only about 70% develop the classic “bull’s-eye” rash, accurate testing is key. Our Lyme Disease Test measures antibodies (IgG, IgM) to help confirm or rule out infection.

What Is the Lyme Disease test?

What is included?

What is included?

This test is especially recommended for those with recent or frequent tick exposure, outdoor activity in wooded or grassy areas, or persistent symptoms that have not been explained by other tests.

This helps detect the body’s immune response to infection, even when symptoms are unclear.

The panel can:

  • Identify both early and late-stage Lyme infection
  • Confirm if symptoms are related to Lyme disease or another cause
  • Support timely treatment to reduce the risk of chronic complications
  • Test for Lyme Disease Antibodies (IgG, IgM), Immunoblot
What is included?

476,000 Lyme cases a year. Early testing means faster answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

You can book online or through our care team. A licensed nurse will visit your home for testing, and your ConciergeMD provider will review results and guide you on next steps.

What does the Lyme Disease Test measure?

This test measures Lyme Disease antibodies (IgG and IgM) through an Immunoblot panel, which detects the body’s immune response to Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

When should I get tested for Lyme disease?

Testing is recommended if you’ve recently had a tick bite, spend time in wooded or grassy environments, or experience symptoms such as fatigue, joint or muscle pain, headaches, or rash.

How is the test performed?

A licensed ConciergeMD nurse visits your home for a simple blood draw, providing convenience, privacy, and comfort.

How long will it take to receive results?

Results are usually available within 1–2 weeks, followed by a personalized review with a ConciergeMD provider.

Do I need to fast before this test?

No fasting is required. You can eat and drink normally before your appointment.

Can this test confirm chronic Lyme disease?

The test identifies antibodies that indicate exposure. While it can support a diagnosis, chronic Lyme disease should be confirmed by a provider using a combination of lab results, symptoms, and medical history.

What symptoms suggest I may need this test?

Common indicators include fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, nerve pain, headaches, or flu-like illness. A “bull’s-eye” rash after a tick bite is a classic sign but does not always appear.

How accurate is the Lyme Disease Test?

By detecting both IgM (early response) and IgG (later response) antibodies, the Immunoblot panel improves accuracy compared to single-marker testing.

Can Lyme disease be detected right after a tick bite?

Antibodies may not appear until 2–6 weeks after infection. If tested too soon, your provider may recommend retesting.

What is the difference between early and late-stage Lyme detection?

  • IgM antibodies typically develop within weeks and may indicate early infection.
  • IgG antibodies appear later and can remain elevated, reflecting ongoing or past infection.

How does Lyme disease affect the body if left untreated?

Untreated Lyme disease can lead to persistent fatigue, arthritis, neurological issues, and heart complications. Early diagnosis is essential to prevent long-term complications.

Can this test help track treatment progress?

Yes. Monitoring antibody levels over time may provide insight into your body’s immune response during or after treatment.

What are the limitations of this test?

The test measures immune response, not the bacteria directly. In very early infections, antibody levels may not yet be detectable, which is why retesting may sometimes be recommended.
